A former outreach specialist for Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz has been charged with theft.
According to documents obtained from the Marion County Prosecutors office, 37-year old Tia Joseph was charged last week with theft of funds and official misconduct for allegedly stealing more than $2,000 related to a professional development seminar.
The Department held a professional training seminar for teachers last July. The event was catered by Jugs Catering and was supposed to be paid for with funds collected from the teachers who attended the event at Perry Meridian High School.
The probable cause affidavit accused Joseph of pocketing the money instead of paying the caterer or turning it over the Department.
Joseph is being charged with a level 6 felony, meaning she could get anywhere from 6 months to 2 and a half years in prison.
