The Pence administration, as well a number of utility groups across the state say new proposed EPA rules on carbon dioxide will drive up energy costs and harm Hoosier consumers.

The administration says, in a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. the proposed rules “ill-conceived and poorly constructed” and cites that they exceed the legal authority granted to the agency under the Clean Air Act.

Indy Politics spoke with Scott Bowers of the Indiana Electric Cooperatives who argues the rules will drive up energy costs because coal is such a large part of Indiana’s energy portfolio.
