So what would happen if Indiana lawmakers actually drew new Congressional maps?   Well, obviously there’d be a lawsuit.  But what legal arguments would the plaintiff’s make?  What defenses could the state use?  And what would the outcome be?

Well, we’re glad you asked.

With a little help from my legal brain (and just a pinch of ChatGPT wizardry), we cooked up a scenario: suppose Republicans push ahead with their redistricting plan.

The exercise: we sketched out what such a lawsuit might look like, how the State’s attorneys would likely respond, and how the courts could rule. Think of it as a legal drama in miniature—without the commercials, and sadly, without the Law & Order “chung chung” sound effect.

This is just speculation, a scenario we’ve mapped out for readers to think through how the process could unfold.
