Don’t anticipate a lot of new initiatives when Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett unveils his budget this evening.
Indy Politics has learned that the $1 billion+ spending plan will only see about $35 million in new revenue.
The city is still negotiating salary increases with its union employees, which is expected to consume much of the revenue.
The remainder is set to go for a handful of new initiatives. In addition, the funds the city received for COVID relief are pretty much exhausted.
The budget will officially be unveiled this evening.
