Republican members of Indiana’s congressional delegation seem very cool to the idea of removing Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House.
Rep. Matt Gaetz is expected to file a motion to vacate this week, which if successful, would remove McCarthy from his position.
When asked, Representatives Rudy Yakym and Greg Pence were “no” votes.
Jim Banks said if it comes down to a vote, he would vote against the motion to vacate.
Congresswoman Victoria Spartz said she was keeping an open mind.
Larry Buschon had the strongest response.
Matt Gaetz is a charlatan. He is threatening to remove Speaker McCarthy using at least 200 Democrat votes. He has been reaching out to them for votes! Is the hypocrisy lost on anyone? At least 200 House Rs will be voting to support the Speaker, including me.
Jim Baird responded this afternoon.
“Every legislative day that is wasted discussing House Leadership’s position is valuable time the House should spend fulfilling its commitment to the American people. Any motion to vacate would be a distraction that undermines our ability to lead and causes more gridlock in Washington.”
Ein Houchin’s response is below…
From day one, @HouseGOP has delivered conservative wins. Fighting to close our southern border, protecting parental rights, standing up for our military, and cutting $2T in spending and more. This takes leadership. I stand with @SpeakerMcCarthy
