A recent poll commissioned for Indy Politics found that Republicans lead all statewide races in Indiana this fall, but Mike Braun’s is the smallest.

A survey of 600 likely voters taken between September 23rd and 25th finds that in the presidential race, Donald Trump holds a 16-point lead on Kamala Harris (55%-39%). In the United States Senate race, Republican Jim Banks leads Democrat Valerie McCray by 13-points (49%-35%). In the Governor’s race, Republican Mike Braun leads Democrat Jennifer McCormick 44%-37%, and in the Attorney General’s race, Republican Todd Rokita leads by 16-points on Democrat Destiny Wells (51%-36%).

“Republicans are in control across the board, but the governor’s race is an interesting one,” says pollster Andrew Weissert. “Mike Braun is definitely in the driver’s seat here but the Libertarian, Ronald Rainwater, is getting 9% overall, which is a little surprising. Braun is only getting 76% of Republicans but they’re going to Rainwater, so Jennifer McCormick is failing to capitalize on what you could consider a Braun, or perhaps more likely Braun-Beckwith, weakness. It seems Rainwater is probably saving Braun from making this a closer race.”

The presidential race mirrors the 2020 results, when Donald Trump beat Joe Biden 57%-41%.  “There was a lot of talk coming out of the primaries about whether Donald Trump has a base problem, getting only 78% in Indiana despite wrapping up the nomination,” says Weissert. “He’s getting 93% of Republicans and leading Independents 47%-36%. I’d say those problems, if they ever were a problem, have disappeared.”

In the US Senate race, Banks has a 40%-29% lead on McCray with Independents and leads Seniors 54%-32%.

In the Attorney General’s race, Rokita is cruising and firmly in control winning Independents 45%-26%.

Pollster Andrew Weissert gave this assessment. “I would not be surprised if  Republicans  have a very early night on Election Day. You might be tempted to believe that the governor’s race is one to watch but McCormick isn’t showing anything that suggests she’s prepared to capitalize on voters less enthused with the Braun-Beckwith ticket.”

Tomorrow we look at Governor Eric Holcomb’s outgoing poll numbers, Indiana’s right track/wrong track numbers , how many Hoosiers plan to vote straight ticket and we also look at whether Hoosiers have faith that ballots in this election will be actually cast and counted/
