The latest survey of Hoosiers shows that when it comes to paying taxes and fairness,  a majority of them think the system is either fair or have no opinion one way or the other.

The Bowen Center for Public Affairs at Ball State University surveyed 615 Hoosiers on November 6-7.

When asked to “rate the fairness” of the state taxes they must pay (income, retail, and property tax caps), the results were as follows…

Income Taxes

  • 37% – Mostly unfair or unfair
  • 25% – Neither fair or unfair
  • 34% – Very fair or fair

Retail Sales Tax

  • 48% – Mostly unfair or unfair
  • 20% – Neither fair or unfair
  • 28% – Very fair or fair

Property Taxes

  • 38% – Mostly unfair or unfair
