The head of the Indianapolis Police Officer’s Union says they are willing to partner with federal law enforcement on illegal immigration, but Rick Snyder made it clear Friday afternoon that their job is to enforce state laws, not federal ones.

Snyder commented 24 hours after IMPD Police Chief Chris Bailey released a similar statement.

Snyder says local police do not enforce federal law.  He says they assist, but don’t enforce.  Snyder’s comments come as Indiana state lawmakers have introduced several pieces of legislation that would impact law enforcement concerning illegal immigration.

You can hear Snyder in the Leon-Tailored Audio above.
