The Indiana Republican party has announced a “straw poll” for its U.S. Senate candidates in January 2018.
It is scheduled to be the first joint appearance of all the candidates in front of hundreds of Republican grassroots activists at the Indiana Republican Party’s Congress of Counties in downtown Indianapolis.
According to a GOP news release, the joint appearance will come at the closing luncheon of the two-day training event for local Republican Party leaders, candidates, volunteers and grassroots activists. Following remarks from each of the U.S. Senate candidates in attendance, Congress of Counties registrants will have the opportunity to vote in a straw poll indicating which candidate they are most likely to support in the May 8th Indiana Republican Primary.
Confirmed candidates for this joint appearance are Former State Rep. Mike Braun (R-Jasper), Mark Hurt (R-Kokomo), Congressman Luke Messer (R-Greensburg) and Andrew Takami (R-New Albany). Congressman Todd Rokita (R-Brownsburg) is also invited to attend and participate.
