State Senator Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) says her home was the target of a pipe bomb threat on Saturday evening, an incident she attributes to escalating national pressure surrounding Indiana’s redistricting debate. According to Leising, the threat came amid a wave of “negative texts, phone calls, swatting, bomb threats, etc.” driven by out-of-state political actors involved in efforts to influence the General Assembly.
Law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions responded to the threat, including the Oldenburg Town Marshal, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police. No device was found, and officers cleared the area without incident. Leising and her family were unharmed.
The Senator made the situation public in a social media post, thanking responding officers and urging fellow legislators not to “cave” to pressure tactics. “We have to do what is right for our Indiana constituents,” she wrote.
Leising said she is grateful for the quick response and hopes the incident serves as a reminder that policy disagreements must not escalate into harassment or threats. “We have to do what is right for our Indiana constituents,” she reiterated.
