By a unanimous vote, the Ivy Tech Board of Trustees has officially chosen former Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann to be the college’s next President.
Indy Politics originally reported a week ago that Ellspermann had been offered the job.
Board of Trustee President Paula Hughes says it was not an easy decision to make and there 100 applicants for the job.
She says Ellspermann’s background in education, business and politics made her the right fit the job.
Ellspermann’s says her goals were to build on the past successes of former President Tom Snyder and to address issues such as graduation and completion rates along with workforce development.
When it comes to commenting on the current political climate in Indiana, Ellspermann says she plans to follow the lead of Purdue President Mitch Daniels and stay out of it.
You can hear both Ellspermann and Hughes’ comments in the Leon-Tailored Audio above. Each segment runs 16-18 minutes.
