The organization representing Indiana’s prosecutors say it will fight any effort to legalize marijuana for either recreational or medicinal purposes.
A recent opinion by the Indiana Attorney General that CBD oil, a hemp derivative, was illegal has sparked an outcry and some lawmakers are planning to propose legislation to expand its use.
Dave Powell, the head of the Indiana Prosecutors Attorneys Council, says any effort to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes should be backed by data and peer-reviewed research.
And that medicinal marijuana opens the door to legalization and recreational use.
