Two recount requests have been filed in Indiana Statehouse races where the incumbents won more than 60 percent of the vote.
Recount requests were filed in the races involving Greg Steurwald (R-Avon) and Joanne King (R-Middlebury).
According to the petitions, not all the votes were correctly counted and returned in those two so a recount is requested.
However, according to the election records, Steurwald won with 63 percent of the vote over primary challenger Brian Paasch, who got 37 percent; King beat her opponent, Cindi Hajicek, 65-35.
Recounts usually occur when just a few votes separate the candidates. In this case, King and Steurwald’s victories were much greater.
