Indiana lawmakers wrapped up the 2025 session, with Republicans praising their accomplishments while Democrats lamented the missed opportunities.
Lawmakers passed a budget while dealing with a $2.4 billion shortfall, property tax reform, Medicaid funding, and rising healthcare costs.
Democrats said lawmakers missed a chance to expand full-day pre-K and help working families. They also complained about several bills that were included in the budget, which never received a hearing or allowed the public to testify. They particularly questioned a last-minute budget amendment that allowed the Governor to replace three IU Trustees who alumni elected.
