Now that Indiana Republicans have settled on a candidate for Governor, the party turns its attention to filling the number two spot on the ticket.
The Republican State Central Committee chose Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb to replace Governor Mike Pence who is running for Vice-President with Donald Trump.
While Holcomb will have a major say over who he chooses as his running mate, Indy Politics has learned the short list of contenders includes State Auditor Suzanne Crouch, State Senator Erin Houchin, Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers and LaPorte Mayor Blair Milo.
Also expected to file to run is Zionsville Town Council member Susana Suarez.
Crouch is considered to be the front runner out of the group since she ran statewide in 2014 and received more votes than anyone on the ticket. She also has legislative and Executive branch experience, is from southern Indiana and is considered to be a prolific fundraiser.
Holcomb is expected to name his choice on Friday. The state central committee will vote on Tuesday.
