Monroe County Democrats are telling one of their own elected officials she needs to get out of politics.
Monroe County Commissioner Angela Barge is accused of sexually harassing a county independent contractor. Although she has called the allegations false, Barge has suspended her campaign for Mayor of Bloomington.
The story originally broke in the Indiana Daily Student. The contractor, Brandon Drake, provided the paper with evidence of the alleged harassment, including emails, text messages, and audio recordings between him and Barge.
In a statement released this weekend, the Monroe County Democratic Party called on Barge to “publicly clarify that she will not accept the nomination for Bloomington Mayor” should she win the primary and also to step down as Monroe County Commissioner.
