Various Democratic sources are telling Indy Politics that Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg is focusing on State Representative Christina Hale of Indianapolis as his potential running mate in the fall.

Greg told the media he would make a decision regarding his candidate for Lt. Governor prior to the convention next month.

She represents District 87 which encompasses north central and northeast Indianapolis.

And her name has been mentioned in the past as a contender, however when approached by Indy Politics earlier this year she said she focusing on her re-election bid.

Hale was first elected in 2012 and has spent time focusing on issues relating to sexual assault on college campuses, rising utility costs and water resources.

The conventional wisdom is that she would help Gregg in Marion County as well as with female and independent voters, in part, because of her bi-partisan efforts in the legislature.

She also won a very competitive House seats; by 51 votes in 2012 and by fewer than 500 votes in 2014.
