The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the state’s unemployment rate fell to 4.4%, the lowest since April 2001.

Unemployment was 4.5% last month.

In addition,  Indiana’s labor force participation rate has remained above the national average, (63.6 percent vs. 62.4 percent in October) for eighteen consecutive months.

According to DWD,  the state made sizable increases in the Manufacturing (+5,400), and Private Educational & Health (+2,900) sectors in October, but they were offset by losses in the Trade, Transportation & Utilities (-3,800), and Professional & Business Services (-1,900) sectors.

Private sector employment in Indiana is now 12,800 jobs above March 2000 peak employment levels.
