A lot of Hoosiers have tried marijuana at least once.
Having asked in previous survey whether they supported the legalization of marijuana and found Indiana voters overwhelmingly support legalization, voters this time were asked whether they’d ever tried marijuana themselves. 55% of Indiana voters admit to using marijuana at least once in their lives. 41% say they’ve used it multiple times, while 14% say they’ve used it but only once.
“It’s not terribly surprising to see over half of voters say they’ve used marijuana before. It’s becoming far more socially acceptable and when we’ve tested support for legalization in previous Indiana polls 53% supported full legalization and 24% supported legalization for medicinal use only,” says pollster Andrew Weissert.
Seniors are the least likely to have tried marijuana, however 47% of those 65 and up say they’ve tried it at least once. Among 18–34-year-olds, 56% say they’ve tried it, with 44% saying they’ve used it multiple times. Those 35-49 years of age are the highest consumers, with 62% saying they’ve used it, and 49% saying they’ve used it multiple times.
