This week, Indy Politics has been examining what some describe as the Trump administration’s effort to intervene — and others characterize as interference — in the Republican primary for Indiana Senate District 38.

Indy Politics examined the behind-the-scenes activity surrounding Senate District 38 and the effort to shape the race before the filing deadline.

Part One, Everybody Had Alexandra’s Number, focused on the breadth of outreach surrounding Alexandra Wilson and the growing questions about who was attempting to influence the field.

Part Two, Audio Reveals Outreach to SD 38 Candidate, moved the story forward by publishing recorded conversations involving White House political figures, outside conservative operatives, and others discussing the dynamics of the race, concerns about a three-way contest, and possible alternatives should Wilson choose not to continue her candidacy.

The recordings, as previously reported by Indy Politics, included discussions about reducing the contest to what one participant described as “a two-man race,” as well as concerns that two candidates with the same last name could split votes in a way that might benefit incumbent Sen. Greg Goode Greg Goode.

Now, in Part Three, we turn to the person at the center of it all:

Alexandra Wilson.

In an extended interview with Indy Politics, Wilson discusses the calls, the conversations, and her firsthand account of what happened in the final hours before the filing deadline.
