With a little more than two weeks to go before the May primary, conservative activist Scott Presler—who has been leading efforts in Indiana to campaign against incumbent Republican state senators who voted against redistricting—has found himself at the center of a new controversy. Photos circulating online purport to show Presler in what some allege is past involvement in gay adult content.

Normally, at Indy Politics our policy is what individuals do in their private lives is just that private.  However as Pressler has gotten involved in Indiana politics,  his “private” behavior is public record.

Pressler didn’t just drop in this past weekend for a photo op. His Indiana swing is part of a six-stop tour by Turning Point Action — the political arm of the Charlie Kirk–founded group — and the target list reads like a roll call of the seven Republican senators who told Donald Trump no on redistricting. Turning Point Action is hosting six events around the state this week with Pressler in support of the Senate challengers WPTA: Davis against Walker in SD 41, Tipton County Commissioner Tracey Powell against Sen. Jim Buck in Kokomo, insurance broker Trevor De Vries against Sen. Dan Dernulc in the Region, and Bluffton City Council member Blake Fiechter against Sen. Travis Holdman in Markle, among others.

Pressler has appeared in photos with Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith and Attorney General Todd Rokita

The TPUSA effort is one piece of a multi-million-dollar push. More than $2 million has been poured into ads in Republican Senate primaries, according to the tracking firm AdImpact, with millions more to come from outside groups. In 2024, less than $500,000 was spent on Indiana Senate ads across the entire election cycle. NBC News Fair Maps Indiana founder Marty Obst told NBC News that the group plans to spend seven figures to oppose Republicans who blocked redistricting NBC News, framing the primaries as enforcement of party discipline. “President Trump’s the head of the party, and I think it’s important to support his agenda,” NBC News Obst said.

The tour also underscores how tightly woven TPUSA has become into Indiana’s Republican establishment. Gov. Mike Braun recently called on schools and universities “to take all necessary steps” to facilitate student organizations like Turning Point USA during a Thursday event co-hosted with TPUSA Indiana Daily Student, and Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales announced his office was establishing a voter registration and poll worker recruitment partnership with TPUSA’s Club America Indiana Daily Student. Beckwith’s weekend appearances with Pressler extend that alignment from policy into direct primary combat against sitting Republican senators.
