As Indiana is less than a month away from a near-total ban on abortion, Planned Parenthood of Illinois says it’s been getting a lot of calls from Hoosier women scheduling appointments for the procedure.
The legislation limits abortion to rape and incest (up until ten weeks) and for the life of the mother. It contains no new criminal penalties for health care providers, but they can lose their license.
Julie Uhal of Planned Parenthood of Illinois says they expect 25,000 to 30,000 women from neighboring states to travel to the Land of Lincoln to have the procedure done, so they have been expanding their capacity, and they also plan to assist women from other states with expenses.
You can hear Uhal in the Leon-Tailored Audio above.
It runs for about 20 minutes.
