We at Indy Politics are excited to announce that Erin Sheridan is joining Indy Politics as a freelance Statehouse correspondent for the 2026 legislative session and election cycle.
With three decades of experience inside Indiana’s Capitol corridors—including a senior advisory role in the Lieutenant Governor’s office—Erin brings a rare mix of policy insight, political instinct, and media savvy.
Throughout her career, Erin has seen how legislation is shaped, how power is wielded, and where the real levers of government lie. Now she joins us at Indy Politics to bring that insider vantage to our readers while reporting with the independence and edge they’ve come to expect. Her assignment covers the 2026 Indiana General Assembly, executive-branch developments, and the fast-evolving dynamics of the statewide elections — a pivotal year for Hoosier politics.
“Politics isn’t just about the speeches and the press releases,” Erin says. “It’s about the deals, the alliances, and what happens when you’re in the room where it happens.”
We’re proud to give her a platform to translate that experience into sharp, clear, fearless coverage for our audience.
At the same time, Indy Politics maintains its editorial integrity: Erin will cover the Lieutenant Governor’s office and related policy matters like any other beat — with one clear exception. Stories involving her own pending or past legal matters will be handled by a different writer or editor, ensuring her background strengthens our coverage without creating conflicts.
We’ve been friends for over twenty years, and I know firsthand the tenacity and integrity Erin brings to the job. Welcome aboard, Erin. It’s going to be one hell of a session.
