Perennial Republican candidate Gabe Whitley is running for Congress in the 7th Congressional District.

Whitley made the announcement on social media.

Whitley,  who was originally from California, had announced he was going to challenge Larry Buchon in the 8th District.

Whitley has run for Mayor of Evansville and State Representative.   However, Whitley was removed from the ballot when he ran for State Rep for not voting in two consecutive Republican primaries and not being in good standing with the Republican party.

He also recently ran into controversy for declaring he had raised thousands of dollars from donors who said they never gave him money.

In addition, Whitley is no stranger to the legal system.  He was sued by his former landlord for unpaid rent and damages to a duplex apartment in Evansville.  The landlord got a default judgment.  He was also sued by WIBC radio talk show host Rob Kendall for defamation for allegedly calling Kendall a pedophile on Facebook.*

Full disclosure:  Indy Politics publisher Abdul-Hakim Shabazz is representing Kendall in his litigation against Whitley.
