It’s not just the Republican race for the U.S Senate where things are heating up between the candidates, the 4th Congressional District race is getting pretty testy as well over a couple of mailers that have gone out attacking Diego Morales’ residency and work record.
One mailer depicts Donald Trump telling Morales he’s been fired, referring to an AP story regarding his work history with the Secretary of State. The second shows him looking at a map for directions in the district and alleging Diego has rented an apartment in the 4th but takes a homestead tax credit for property on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
Both photos are depicted below.
IF YOU’RE NOT GETTING THE INDY POLITICS DAILY STATEWIDE SUMMARY, YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE MISSING.
While the disclaimer on the ads says they were paid for by Citizens for a Strong America, the Diego campaign says the Braun camp was behind the mailers.
“It’s pathetic and revealing of Steve Braun’s character that he and his allies have resorted to racially charged attacks,” said campaign manager Michael Sorenson. “Steve Braun’s desperate racial taunts will follow him the rest of this campaign and his life.”
The Braun campaign is denying they had anything to do with the mailer.
“What they are suggesting is is not only false but Illegal. We have not formed a Super PAC nor have we directed any of our donors to contribute to a Super PAC,” noted Braun campaign manager Matt Humm. “We doubt Morales can say the same.”
The primary is Tuesday, May 8.
