Rev. Charles Harrison tells Indy Politics that if he runs for Mayor it will be as an Independent.
Harrison confirmed this morning that he will not run on the Libertarian ticket. He says while the Libertarians are “great people” he didn’t think their political philosophy was the “right mix” and and it would have “boxed him politically”.
Harrison says he will make a final decision about running around the May primary. He says part of that decision will be based on the positions that Republican Chuck Brewer and Democrat Joe Hogsett take regarding crime, education and economic development.
Running as a Libertarian Harrison would have had instant ballot access. As an independent, if he decides to run, he would need about 3,200 signatures of registered voters to qualify to be on the ballot.
Incumbent Mayor Greg Ballard has decided not to seek a third term.
