Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, along with two other Republican Midwestern Governors, is appearing in a campaign ad for Illinois incumbent Bruce Rauner.
The ad entitled “Thanks Mike” has Holcomb, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, in a very tongue and cheek fashion thanking Illinois Democratic House Speaker Mike Madigan for setting up an environment where jobs and residents are fleeing the state.
Rauner announced his re-election bid this week. The Democratic Speaker is a prime target of his campaign.
The Democratic Governors Association responded to the ad by saying, “It’s appropriate the only governor not on screen is Bruce Rauner, who has abdicated his leadership position for nearly three years now. Illinois is losing jobs and people because Bruce Rauner forced the state to go through a two-year budget crisis that set the state back years financially and slowed the state’s economy. The fact is: Bruce Rauner’s economic policies have been the best thing that’s ever happened to Illinois’ neighbors.”
