Indianapolis Pastor James Jackson tells Indy Politics he is running for Mayor.

Jackson is the lead Pastor at Fervent Prayer Church on the city’s far east side.

He is also the host of Unity in Community on WTLC-AM.

When asked why he was running, Jackson told Indy Politics, “I am running because I have a vision to transform Indianapolis into the best city to live in America; together, we can transform Indianapolis!”

Jackson filed to run on Friday and informed his congregation this past Sunday.  A formal announcement will be made later.

Jackson was also part of the state Republican party’s inaugural Diversity Leadership Series.  The series was part of an effort to develop and strengthen authentic relationships with minority communities.

So far, no other Republican has filed.

Incumbent Joe Hogsett and Democrat State Rep. Robin Shackleford have both announced they are running.
