The controversy between the Center Township Constable and Small Claims court continued Monday, this time resulting in two arrests.

A Small claims Court employee and the Chief of Staff for the Township Trustee  were both arrested.

From what Indy Politics has been able to gather,  there was a dispute between the Constable, Denise Paul Hatch, and the Court’s bailiff. Hatch reportedly placed the bailiff in handcuffs for “interfering with law enforcement “.

Then the chief of staff for the Trustee’s office tried to intervene and was arrested for interfering with law enforcement.

The two were taken to the Marion County jail, but the jail refused to take them so they were brought back to work at the office on Fall Creek,

The Trustee’s office release the following statement…

This morning, the Center Township Constable came into the Julia Carson Government Center and detained township employee and a court employee for doing their jobs. We are confident that neither employee violated the law, and it is our understanding that the jail declined to accept them. They were returned to work where they continue serving Center Township residents with professionalism and integrity.

IMPD is investigating the incident.
