Former State Public Health Commissioner Dr. Woody Myers is making a major announcement tomorrow.
It is believed he will formally declare a run for Governor.
Myers will make the announcement on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in front of the former Wishard Hospital Emergency Room where he used to see patients and teach critical care and emergency medicine.
The Indianapolis native was the youngest state health commissioner in Indiana history and served under both Governors Evan Bayh and Robert D. Orr.
According to the advisory, Myers is a nationally-recognized leader in the development of medical quality initiatives and advanced health care management programs. He is currently the owner of Myers Ventures LLC and consults for a variety of hospitals, health care companies and provider organizations.
Dr. Myers is scheduled to be introduced at the event by former Indiana Congressman Baron Hill.
Myers would be the first Democrat to formally declare a run for Governor. State Senator Eddie Melton and State Representative Karlee Macer are both exploring a run.
