The Trump administration plans to nominate former Congressman Todd Rokita to the board of Amtrak.
The administration put out the following statement on Tuesday…
Today, President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate the following individual to a key position in his Administration:
Theodore Rokita of Indiana, to be a Member of the AMTRAK Board of Directors for the remainder of a five-year term, expiring January 3, 2021.
Rokita served in Congress from 2011 to 2019. He ran for the U.S. Senate in 206, losing to Republican Mike Braun in the primary.
In the past, Rokita has voted against subsidies for Amtrak. He currently serves as general counsel and vice president of external affairs for Apex Benefits, an Indianapolis-based company that helps employers find ways to lower their healthcare costs.
