Indiana House and Senate Democrats Wednesday reiterated their call for their Republican colleagues to focus on inflation relief for more Hoosiers rather than focus on abortion legislation during the special session which was originally scheduled to begin this week.

Democrats argue that in addition to temporarily suspending the taxes on gasoline, lawmakers should expand the proposed tax cuts to those who don’t pay income taxes, including the more than 127,000 Hoosiers who are on social security benefits, but may not be eligible for a taxpayer refund.
