The Indiana Libertarian and Green Parties have filed an appeal in their legal efforts to get easier ballot access.
The appeal, filed in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, challenges the petition requirements for minor party and independent candidates. Currently, to get on the ballot, they would have to have to gather signatures, at least two percent or greater than the votes cast in the previous election for Secretary of State.
The Green Party had filed suit in February 2022, alleging Indiana’s ballot access rules placed a substantial burden on minor parties and violated the U.S. Constitution.
The judge in the case ruled against the Greens.
In its appeal, the Green Party argued several procedural issues. You can read a copy of the brief here.
