An informal survey of  Indy Politics readers gives Governor Eric Holcomb high marks so far for his handling of the COVID-19 public health crisis.

Nearly 64 percent rated the Holcomb’s handing as either good or excellent.  Twenty-three percent rated him as satisfactory while less than 10 percent said it was poor.

However, when it came to the President’s handling of COVID-19, nearly a third of those who responded rated his performance as poor and 45 percent rated it as excellent or good.

There was overwhelming support for the state’s efforts dealing with COVID-19, with 89 percent saying they either strongly or somewhat agree with what the administration is doing, while only 16 percent said they either strongly or somewhat disagreed.

Here are some other highlights from the informal survey…

  • 54 percent said they were worried about contracting COVID-19.
  • 86 percent said they were worried about someone they know catching COVID-19.
  • 50 percent said they knew someone who may have contracted COVID-19.
  • 79 percent said they knew someone who lost their job due or was temporarily laid off due to COVOID-19.
  • 62 percent expected the public health crisis to last 2-3 months.
  • 55 percent rated the local media coverage of COVID-19 as excellent or good.
