Former State Representative and staunch anti-abortion advocate John Jacob is expected to announce today that he is running for the late Jack Sandlin’s State Senate seat.

Sandlin passed away last Wednesday due to a heart attack.

Jacob served in the legislature from 2020-2022.

He sponsored legislation that would practically outlaw all abortions in Indiana.

He beat Dollyne Sherman in the 2020 Republican primary but lost to Julia Grice in 2022.

A caucus has not been set yet to replace Sandlin.   Sandlin’s district covered a portion of southern Marion County and northern Johnson County.
