Two juveniles were arrested Saturday night for allegedly attacking the general manager of a shop on Monument Circle.

According to the owner of Rocket Fizz and IMPD, the juveniles were part of a larger group that entered the store and re[poprtedly started shoplifting.  The manager intervened and tried to get them to leave, but she was attacked.

The owner, Kim Nething, wrote the following account on Facebook…

Owner of Rocket Fizz here. Thank you to everyone that has reached out to me.  A group of seven young teens (ages 12/13 that I know of) came into our shop. We were fully staffed. Upon suspected shoplifting and foul language, they were asked and told to leave. They refused to do so as one of the boys skipped around the shop yelling F*%K You to everyone. As my manager attempted to call police and usher them out the door, they jumped her in our doorway and started hitting.
Even after she was on the ground outside, they continued to punch her, pull her hair out, and beat her over the head with a bag. It escalated quickly, but a rush of customers gathered around her and chased the kids away. A couple outside of the store took video of the end of the attack, watched where the group went and guided police to them. The 2 that were identified as beating her were arrested. 1 resisted & ultimately ended up injuring an officer as well. All police/ambulance were quick to the scene & have been thorough with follow-up.
Even during the arrest, when crowds gathered taunting the police for “harassing” kids…not knowing they had just beat up a middle-aged woman…the officers handled everything professionally. My manager was treated for her injuries & released from the hospital this morning & is home resting. We will be cooperating fully with the authorities.
IMPD arrested one male and one female.
