Longtime Democratic Party activist and Seymour resident Trish Whitcomb announced last week that she is entering the race to become the State Representative in Indiana House District 69, a seat currently held by controversial lawmaker Jim Lucas.

She is the daughter of former Indiana Governor Edgar Whitcomb, who served as the state’s leader from 1969-1973.  She is also the former Executive Director of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and is the former President of the Indiana Federation of Democratic Women and she managed Glenda Ritz’s campaign for Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Lucas has been a controversial figure in the Legislature.  He has proposed legislation that would allow guns in school and he was arrested earlier this year for driving while intoxicated.

You can hear Whitcomb in the Leon-Tailored Audio above.  It runs for about ten minutes.
