In the wake of the latest ISTEP testing controversy, Governor Mike Pence, Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz and the leadership in the Indiana General Assembly have reached an agreement on how to handle teacher performance evaluations.

In a e-mail sent out Friday afternoon, the Department of Education (DOE) informed school districts that ISTEP test results would be “de-coupled” for the 2014-2015 school year and that the $30 million in teacher performance grant money would be distributed on a fair basis.

In addition, because of the agreement, the DOE tells school districts that scores related to student growth as well as teacher performance grants will not be released this month as scheduled, instead, districts should wait for lawmakers to come up with a solution next session.
