As first reported months ago in the Cheat Sheet, former Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick has formed an exploratory committee to run for the office of Governor in 2024.

An official announcement is expected sometime in January.

McCormick wants to let voters know she is all in and ready to go.  She also reportedly has donors and supporters from around the state.

McCormick’s campaign issues will be economic development, education and workforce development.

In her last campaign finance report, McCormick has about $40,000 in the bank.

Supporters also tell Indy Politics that McCormick has won statewide before, even though it was as a Republican.   In addition, they say they would have the support of teachers and educators from across Indiana.

They also point out that Joe Donnelly and Christine Hale both work for the federal government, taking them out of the running.  And Joe Hogsett has announced he’s running for re-election.

Stay tuned.
