IMPD Chief Bryan Roach says he requested the FBI do a parallel investigation into the police action shooting death of Aaron Bailey.
Roach says it’s important the community have faith in the outcome of the investigation, s he asked the FBI to do also do an investigation.
The FBI agreed and put out this statement earlier today.
“The Indianapolis FBI Field Office, the Civil Rights Division, and the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana have opened a civil rights investigation into the police action shooting of Aaron Bailey. The FBI will collect all available facts and evidence and will ensure that the investigation is conducted in a fair, thorough and impartial manner. As this is an ongoing investigation we are not able to comment further at this time.”
The Chief spoke with the media this morning about the co-investigation as well as what scheduled weekend protests might mean for security at Indiana Black Expo this weekend.
