Senate Republicans unveiled their budget proposal Thursday, and while the plan includes more money for schools, it does not expand the school voucher program nor does it include direct property tax relief.

The more than 43-billion dollar spending plan includes more money for K-12 education, it also allows charter schools to get a portion of the increase in property taxes.

The plan also provides funding for community mental health and the Governor’s health  care initiative.  However, Appropriations Chairman Ryn Mishler says he is concerned about the growing costs of the state’s Medicaid program.

You can hear Mishler, as well as Democrats Eddie Melton and Fady Quadorra in the Leon-Tailored Audio above.
