A national expert on gas prices says Hoosiers should keep Saturday’s 10-cent increase in the gas tax in perspective.

A 10-cent increase in the state gas tax goes into effect Saturday.   Lawmakers passed the increase this past session as part of a way to pay for road funding.

However, Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy.com says Hoosier should be mindful that a lot of states are increasing their gas taxes to pay for roads and even with the tax increase, the average price of regular gas in Indiana will still be cheaper than it was last year at this time.

You can hear DeHaan in the Leon-Tailored Audio.  The interview runs about 10 minutes.
