The head of Rickers convenience stores has some strong language for the deal reached Friday between two powerful lobby groups over Sunday retail alcohol sales and cold beer.

The Indiana Association of Beverage Retailers (IABR) and the Indiana Retail Council (IRC) announced Friday they will support legislation that allows for Sunday sales, but limits cold beer sales to liquor stores.

Jay Rickers calls the agreement a “corrupt bargain” and accused his former allies in the grocery store lobby of pulling the rug underneath him and other cold beer advocates.

Rickers also tells Indy Politics he’s spoken to several members of the state committee looking at rewriting Indiana’s alcohol laws and they seem skeptical of the agreement as well.

You can hear Ricker in the Leon-Tailored audio above.  It runs about 10 minutes.
