Indiana Governor Mike Braun is downplaying a possible ethics violation by one of his Cabinet Secretaries.
Mike Speedy, the Secretary of Business Affairs, recently publicly endorsed John Schmitz, who ran and lost for Marion County Republican Party Chair.
The state ethics code prohibits state employees from engaging in political activity on state time or using state resources.
The video was recorded in the Capitol and has since been taken down. Speedy also posted his endorsement on social media.
Braun told Indy Politics that Speedy’s error was likely unintentional and Speedy probably wasn’t as familiar with the rules as he should have been.
