Republican State Representative Jim Lucas has some advice for State Senator Mike Bohacek who was recently charged with OWI; Own it and get help.

Bohacek was stopped in January for operating a vehicle under the influence.   But even though his blood alcohol content level was .28, under the legislative immunity clause, Bohacek could not be arrested and charged until after the legislative session.

Lucas found himself in a similar situation in 2023, where he  was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor. He plead guilty to both charges.

As the incident occurred after the legislative session, Lucas did not have immunity and was charged immediately.

Indy Politics spoke with Lucas about the incident and if he had any advice for Bohacek.

The interview runs for about 18 minutes.
