U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly discusses the next steps for his “Service member and Veteran Mental Health Care Package” (“Care Package”) that recently passed the Senate Armed Services Committee in this year’s national defense bill, along with what he says are other key Indiana priorities.
Donnelly says the “Care Package” provisions included in the Fiscal Year 2016 National Defense Authorization Act would help improve mental health outcomes for service members by: strengthening Department of Defense (DoD) mental health services; enhancing the ability of service members and their families to receive quality mental health care from community providers; and calling on DoD to train physician assistants to help meet the growing demand for mental health services.
