Indy Politics has been able to confirm reports that Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann is being considered as a possible candidate to take over at Ivy Tech Community College once current President Tom Snyder steps down.
Synder announced in earlier this year that he was retiring in 2016.
Ellspermann was approached by a member of Ivy Tech’s Board of Trustees to apply for the job. Sources tell Indy Politics she is interested and Governor Mike Pence is supportive.
The sources also say Ellspermann is uniquely qualified for the job as she has been a leader in workforce development in Indiana.
Governor Pence is not expected to lobby on Ellspermann’s behalf for the job, with sources telling us that such a decision will be made by the Board and the Governor respects the selection process.
