As first reported in the Cheat Sheet and confirmed today by the Indianapolis Star, 9th District Congressman Trey Hollingsworth is not running for re-election.
Hollingsworth said when he was elected in 2016, that he would not serve more than eight years in Congress,
He is leaving after six.
In the interview with the Star, Hollingsworth said, “I ran for Congress to return this government to the people from the career politicians who had broken it, and I will be damned if I become one in the process,” he wrote. “I hope Hoosiers will replace their Congressman with someone with a similar attitude.”
Hollingsworth has been named as a likely candidate for Governor in 2024.
