Indianapolis and Marion County health officials say they are optimistic that the city will be able to open up more later this summer.
At their bi-weekly briefing, Dr. Virginia Cain, Marion County Public Health Director, says they are working on a plan that is somewhat similar to the old smoking/non-smoking sections that bars and restaurants used to have prior to the smoking ban.
Dr. Cain says the way the setup would work would be that if an individual is vaccinated they can be in one section of the bar or restaurant and non-vaccinated individuals in another section.
Individuals who are vaccinated would not have to wear a mask nor social distance.
Cain says we can expect more details in a few weeks.
You can hear Dr. Cain and Mayor Joe Hogsett in the Leon-Tailored Audio above.
It runs for about 40 minutes.
In addition, Hogsett and Cain announced that outdoor events in Marion County will be allowed at 50 percent, while indoors events will still be capped at 25 percent.
