Saying it would save $12-$20 per tank of gas, Indiana Statehouse Democrats called for a temporary suspension of the sales tax and excise tax on gasoline.

Senator Tim Lanane and Representative Greg Porter said such a move would only be through July and cost the state about $300 million in revenue.

They say the state can afford it due to its large surplus and Hoosiers need the relief at the pump.
